Un famoso scrittore di mezza età, con alle spalle un grave lutto familiare ed un matrimonio fallito, la cui unica distrazione dal lavoro è costituita dalle regate veliche, alla vigilia di un’importante competizione internazionale che si svolge a Capri, è “costretto” dallo sponsor ad inserire nel proprio equipaggio un’avvenente ragazza spagnola, famosa stella dello spettacolo. Vent’anni – questa è la differenza di età fra i due – sono certamente parecchi, ed i rispettivi caratteri sono quanto di più diverso si possa immaginare. Introverso, schivo e pericolosamente vicino ad una patologia depressiva lui, solare ed un po’ immatura lei. Ciò nondimeno, superate le incomprensioni iniziali, fra i due si stabilisce una forte attrazione reciproca che ben presto si evolve in una relazione appassionata che non tarda a finire in pasto alla stampa. A questo punto nella vicenda irrompe un pericolosissimo omicida seriale, nella cui mente schizofrenica (soffre di una gravissima sindorme Mpd o Multiple personality disorder) alberga da tempo un’insana passione per la show girl, che non può rassegnarsi a cedere al suo nuovo compagno. THE WHITE MASK
A famous middle-aged author who is recovering from the loss of a dear and close member of his family and whose marriage has proven a failure, finds his only consolation in sailing-races when he is not writing. On the eve of an important international sailing competition in Capri, he is “obliged” by the sponsor of the race to take an attractive Spanish girl, a famous showbiz star, into his team. Twenty years – the difference in age between the two – is certainly a lot, and their respective personalities are as far apart as one could possibly imagine. He is introvert, shy and is dangerously verging on depression, whereas she is radiant and somewhat immature. Despite this, once they have overcome a few initial misunderstandings, they find themselves strongly attracted to each other. This very soon evolves into a passionate relationship which very quickly becomes big news for the media. At this point in the course of events there appears on the scene a highly dangerous serial killer whose schizophrenic mind (he suffers from the extremely serious Multiple Personality Disorder – Mpd – syndrome) has for some time harboured an unhealthy passion for the showgirl and he cannot bear her being with her new companion.
